Wineries
Ranging from elaborate facilities to small family-run operations, the picturesque wineries of the Niagara Region are some of the best in the world. A visit is worthwhile as some offer wonderful views of Lake Ontario, while others are nestled among the beautiful gardens of Niagara on the Lake.
No visit to Niagara would be complete without tasting the region's very own Icewine. The Icewine harvest, done entirely by hand, begins once the temperature has dropped below -10 degrees C and the grapes have naturally frozen on the vines. Discovered accidentally in 1794, Canada is now the largest producer of this rare, sweet ambrosia.
